UKWUANI ARE NOT IGBOS -

LET THE GOAL BE DEFINED: IS IT NEW NATION OR NEW PLACE OF ORIGIN IN THE FRONT BURNER?

By Lawrence Sc Egwali

The IPOB is right to say that when the time
comes, everyone will know where they
belong as a country; ...yes that is normal to
life.
Even the those criticising their approach and
those being criticised and blasted by IPOB
eg the Anioma, may be among the
first to empower the actualization of a
genuine separate new country.
However, if belonging to Biafra as a Country/
nation is also tied to originating from Igbo,
it means the people are getting it all wrong,
to the exclusion of many. For example, if you
opt for the old Midwest region and tag
Urhobo,
Itsekiri or Edo to be Igbo in order to belong,
it makes things difficult, if not impossible.

Besides, no tribe, even the ones with similar
language need to be told their origin from
abroad.

Again, let's not use two hands to search for
kernels on the mantelpiece (uko), for you
need the other one for a support.
If we are truly struggling for a separate new
country, let's
concentrate on that main goal and leave the
issue of citizens' origin realignment aside.
That's like
dropping scanner into the wheel of
foreseen progress or success. What is more
important than the
struggle for one-umbrella cultural origin is
for IPOB to create PR groups for sensitizing
all interfacing neighbouring tribes/nations
around the the
expected new country in a most friendly
atmosphere and manner.

That can be
achieved through well intentioned seminars,
rotation of public games, and other forms of
mutual competitions. It is without doubts
that the time and energy being spent and
wasted in slander posts, critics, and name
calling could have done the great magic of
bringing people together in cultural
alignment, instead
of widening the already existed gaps.
Let's think equity in friendship, then disown
cohesive tendencies and threatening power
plays as some well known religious sects do;
...it doesn't pay at the end of the month: yet
it's Love that works wonder!
