WHY EDO PEOPLE ARE UNIQUE IN NIGERIA

THE SOLILOQUIES OF THE ELDERSTATESMAN

By Elder Ojealaro Friday

Yesterday, one of my Igbo friends liked our page- CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT FOR EDO UNITED KINGDOM'S REBIRTH. I decided to thank him when he informed me that he liked the page. But do you know what he asked me thereafter? He said, " WHY DO YOU EDOS THINK YOU ARE UNIQUE IN NIGERIA?" My answer to him formed the substance of this soliloquy. I also got the caption of the treatise from his query.
ELDERSTATESMAN ANSWERED;

(1) WHEN THE COLONIALIST GUILEFULLY INVADED NIGERIA;

**History recorded that it was only Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi of
Benin,Nana of Itsekiri and Jaja of Opobo( All of Edo ancestry) that
resisted colonialism. Note that,Oba Ovonramwen was in prison
when Nigeria was almagamated in 1914 by Lugard. He was not a
party to the forced document of merger. He died shortly after in
Calabar.
**The Hausas,Fulanis,Yorubas,Igbos and other ethnic groups in Nigeria
were annexed to the British empire without so much as raising their
now vociferous orifices. They were captured by the white man like
you would a snail or a pathologically shy armadillo( Ekhun). As my
People would say in pidgin," Dem pick dem from ground"

(2) WHICH OF THE OLD KINGDOMS WAS STILL STANDING WHEN THE BRITISH ENTERED THE NIGER AREA( PRESENT DAY NIGERIA)?

** None in Igboland as they never had any.
** None in Yoruba Land as Nupe has laid waste to the often overhyped
Oyo Kingdom
** None in Hausaland as Fulanis from Futa-Jalon and Niger led by
the trickster-Usman Dan Fodio had already sacked all the Habe
city-states
BUT,
** The Greatest of all Indigenous Nigeria Kingdoms- the Benin Empire
was still flourishing and resplendent in her majestic aura and glory. It
is a kingdom that is not new to the whiteman's ways. In fact, the
Benin Empire had a diplomatic mission and embassy in Portugal(
another European power). The secondary language of the Benin
people then was Portuguese.

(3) WHO SOLD THEIR KINSMEN AS SLAVES TO EUROPEANS?

** The Igbos did via Arochuku slave dealers.
** The Yorubas did. It was why the Yoruba civil war lasted decades.
Bishop Ajayi Crowder and the Kutis family were victims. Note that
Wole Soyinka is a Kuti via Eniola Kuti his mother. Herbert Macaulay
is a grandchild of Ajayi Crowder the slave who became a Bishop.
80% Caribbean countries are made up of Yoruba whose kinsmen
sold into slavery.
** The Hausa-Fulani did. It has been their way of life since the Trans-
Sahara slave trade. The almajiris system till date gives an insight into
their penchant for inhumanity to their kinsmen.
BUT,
The Edo people never DID. In the old empire, the worst that can happen to a criminal is punishment commensurate to his crime. He can be made a domestic servants instead of a slave to foreigners.

(4) WHO FIRST MADE MADE CONTACT WITH THE WHITEMAN

** Not the Yorubas
** Not the Ibos
** Definitely not the Hausa-Fulanis
BUT,
Clearly the Edos. It was During the reign of the Philosopher-King Esigie that Roy De Squierra the Portuguese visited benin in the 15th century and facilitated the establishment of Diplomatic relationship between Portugal and the Great Kingdom of Benin. Edo people can speak Portuguese fluently after that. After the advent of the British colonialism and the almagamation of 1914,Edo people who could speak Portugal very well started learning a new " Oyinbo" language-English. Those who are not so Educated decided to mix Portuguese with the new English language and thus, the Edo people gave Nigeria their unofficial but most effective lingua-Franca,the "pidgin" English. The pidgin is not incorrect grammar as some people have come to believe. It is an admixture of Edo,Portuguese and English languages distill from the lingua laboratory of the Edo people. e.g the pidgin sentence, " DASH ME" is made up of Portuguese word "dash" meaning,"give it to me free of charge" and the English pronoun "me".
So you see. Na Edo people give Nigeria pidgin.

(5) NIGERIA DARES NOT IGNORE US:

Of course, they can't. When they tried it during the first republic, the country boiled and it was not with their clear eyes they hurriedly carved out Midwest( Bendel) for us.
** Awolowo had to ally with Enahoro an Edo man to succeed.
** Babagida had to ally with Aikhomo an Edo man to succeed
** Abacha refused to acknowledge Edo properly and ended badly
** Abdulsalami learnt his lesson and allied with Akhigbe an Edo
man to succeed.
** The defunct SDP the party who won a presidential Election did
it through Anenih an Edo man as their Chairman.
** The then opposition party NRC,which had most governors in the country
performed the feat via Tom Ikimi an Edo man as the Chairman.
** Anenih the same Edo man was the brain behind the 16 year elect-
oral success of the PDP
** APC now have a President because an Edo man Oyegun is their
Chairman.
**Most importantly, Nigeria got their Independence through the motion
moved by Enahoro an Edo man who precipitated other events that
Evicted the WHITEMAN.

(6) MOST ROYAL DIGNITY.

** How do the Yorubas feel when they see their foremost paramount
Ruler, the Alafin of Oyo posing for photographs with his Solomonic
harem of young wives in front of the Buckingham Palace in
London? He is even at war with his skin. He is bleaching it red.
** How do the Hausa-Fulani feel, when their foremost Ruler, the Sultan
goes to Abuja most times to curry favours. One of the sultan died
in a plane crash during one of those trips.
** Do you know that a former chairman of Igbo traditional council
died in a hotel in Abuja when he went there to see late Abacha?
BUT,

The Oba of Benin;

* Cannever leave his domain frivolously to another.
*Can never go and receive a President or any other VIP at the Airport.
They have to come to his palace to pay homage or submit a petition
* Cannot be deposed by a president or governor.
I wanted to go on and on but my Igbo friend suddenly shouted:
" Prince, e don do. I gree. You people are very unique indeed! "
I am proud to be an Edo man! Aren't you?

FULL SCALE SHARIA LAW IN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM? NIGERIA 2016

was shocked to watch the live proceedings of the House of Representatives as covered by NTA2 and saw that the bill calling for the criminal aspects of Islamic Sharia law to be implemented in our legal system in Nigeria at the Federal and states passed the second reading today! I was even more shocked because even though there were many Christians in the House no one raised an objection! The Speaker of the House, Hon Yakubu Dogara, who presided over the proceedings said that what this meant was that it would now move to committee level where it will be discussed fully before the House would decide on it finally, but it is curious that not even one voice of dissent was aired against it! I waited till 9pm to hear what NTA Network news would report about it, but there was a blackout of reportage about it! Of course, other issues discussed and decided in the House today were reported but not this one! The bill to amend the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to make provision for the full implementation of Sharia Criminal law at the Federal and states legal system has passed the second reading in the House of Representatives and no one is telling Nigerians what is happening! For all we know, when a bill passes the second reading unchallenged in parliament it is almost as good as passed!

Long before the 2nd Republic, Muslim leaders in Nigeria have always agitated for the full implementation of Sharia in Nigeria. Nobody has forgotten the hot debates that took place in the Constituent Assembly of 1978 about the place of Sharia in the 1979 Constitution. Christian members kicked against the full implementation of full Sharia because non-Muslims would fall victim of this law. In the end, a compromise was reached that the Sharia Personal Law be allowed, not the criminal aspects. It was the same thing that happened in 1988 Constituent Assembly that produced the 1989 Constitution, which never took off. In fact, in the 1988 Constituent Assembly, General Ibrahim Babangida, then Nigeria’s self- styled military President, had to stop all debates relating to Sharia and other sensitive issues when he saw how inflammable the debates were becoming, and retained the status quo. The 1999 Constitution drew much from both the 1979 and 1989 Constitutions and retained Sharia Personal law. Now, Muslims, under PMB, have surreptitiously attempted to amend the Constitution to insert the full implementation of Sharia without carrying Nigerians along! Muslim leaders have always argued that Sharia law is meant for Muslims only. But Christians have always refused to buy the argument because in practice, non- Muslims have often been dragged before Sharia courts and have been adjudicated by a legal system repugnant to their faith. Several documented cases abound to prove this! Besides, Christians have always argued why the government that is supposed to be neutral to all religions should uphold the religious laws of one religion with public funds to the harm of the adherents of other faiths!

My book, Sharia In Nigeria: A Christian Perspective (Challenge Publications, 1988), documents the issues succinctly clear! These are some of the issues that make some of us to take with a pinch of salt the claims that PMB means well for this country! Our job is to bring these issues to the fore to create awareness of what is happening. Whatever happens afterwards is beyond our power. It’s up to you all! Broadcast this information'.

There is no doubt that the determination of Muslim extremists in north Nigeria, to foist Sharia laws all over Nigeria has taken another step towards their sinister objective, by the second reading and passing of this bill.
The fact that the bill scaled its second reading without a single opposition is intriguing, considering the furore the same issue has raised in the past. One wonders whose interest southern and Christian members of the National Assembly are serving.

The bill seeks to make all aspects of Sharia law part of the Nigerian constitution and implemented in the whole of Nigeria. This will ensure that the benefit of Sharia laws, viz. : cutting off of the hands of thieves, stoning adulterers, and blasphemers, public flogging of offenders, legalisation of child marriages and ensuring all women wear Nicab, banning alcohol, making Islam the official religion, giving men right to marry up to four wives without permission etc., available to all Nigerians. Not a bad thing, if you do not believe in individual liberty, humane treatment of offenders, equality, tolerance of differences, plurality of views about the transcendent, enlightenment and fundamental human rights.
No doubt the bill will usher in a new phase in the history and evolution of Nigeria as a country. The implication and the threat this sectarian minded, obnoxious and provocative bill pose to the continued existence of Nigeria as one country cannot be over emphasised.
It shows that those who gave Nigeria Sharia laws in the north, Boko Haram, Grazing ground bill, armed Fulani militia and ensured that all important positions in Nigeria today are occupied by Muslims are very determined to turn Nigeria into an Islamic nation in the image of Saudi Arabia, where most of them go for their spiritual inspiration. I admire their tenacity, relentlessness, strategic thinking and determined to achieve their aim. It reminds me of one of the things Jesus said, the children of this world, in their generation, are wiser than the children of light.
This development is another evidence of the escalation of effort to turn Nigeria into an Islamic, since the election of Muhammadu Buhari, an arch Islamist, who vowed that he would not rest, until the whole of Nigeria is under sharia. He seems to be keeping his word.

Since his election, president Mohammadu Buhari has pursed a sectarian agenda like the push to appropriate vast acres of land all over the country for the exclusive use of Fulanis, refusal to disarm Fulani herdsmen , plan to introduce Islamic indoctrination of children as part of religious education all over Nigeria and increasing militarisation of south Nigeria, extrajudicial killings of Christians and ethnic cleansing of Christian communities. Just to mention a few.

All these are going on, against the back ground of a selective war against corruption, which spears members of his political party and those who misappropriated state state fund to sponsor his presidential application form fee and paid for his electioneering campaign.
The president has also brutally cracked down on Shia Muslims in a massacre that constitutes crime against humanity. His actions so far, has further widened the ethnic and religious divide and led to increasing agitation for independent state of Biafra in the south East. It would not be far fetched to conclude that the primary aim of the president of Nigeria, is not the welfare of all Nigerians, but to turn Nigeria into Islamic state.

Nigerian from south who are predominately Christians, have shown remarkable, understanding and tolerance, which now borders on either naivety or ignorance.
Many of them have been what Muslims describe as useful idiots, as they either kept silent or aided the grand plan to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state and ensure that all its resources are in the hands of the Muslim north.

It is curious that not a single legislator from the south has protested the sustained and systematic attempt to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state contrary to the provisions of the constitution. None of them protested the introduction of Sharia in the north even though it is unconstitutional.
The Christians and other non-Muslims have been example in tolerance to ensure that all coexist peacefully. However, Muslim extremist, as fanatics, who have no respect for their opponents and do not know where and when to stop, have continued to put unbearable strain on the things that hold Nigeria together as a country, as they push to recreate Nigeria in the image of intolerant Islam.
These extremists and their Boko Haram and Fulani terrorists have continued Their two prong strategy to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state.

The president of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari has no mandate from the people of Nigeria to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state. This is not in his party manifesto and it is happening because for no other reason other than, the president's religious convictions and because the OIC wants it to happen. Buhari seems determined to bring to Nigeria, what Islam did to Lebanon.
Buhari, has confirmed what many of us know all along, that he is a religious fanatic, who has no true respect for other religions and has contempt for the religious beliefs of others. After his election, he held a security meeting attended by only Muslim heads and excluded the Vice President who is a Christian.

Since his election, more Nigerians have been killed by the military than has been the case since the end of the civil war. In less than one year, his tenure has recorded the highest number of death of Nigerian in peace time. This should worry rational human beings.
Before his election, he threatened that the blood of baboons would flow. Sadly what us flowing in Nigeria today is the blood of baboon but the blood of Christians and Shia Muslims.
Buhari's leadership is evolving into a callous and insensitive leadership, which has an Islamic agenda.
Christians and all lovers of Liberty need to study carefully what is happening in both north and South Sudan today to understand what president Buhari has in store for Nigeria. This will be the fate of Nigeria, unless Buhari is stopped or persuaded to give up his sinister Islamic agenda.
There is a north Sudan under Sharia, which is fermenting trouble in the south because of oil. It is already happening. North Nigeria is united under sharia, the south is ethnically divided.
I plead with the world, to persuade Nigerian president to give up his Islamic agenda for Nigeria.
Islamisation of Nigeria will only bring the same disaster it had brought to all countries, where extremist Muslims have imposed Islam on others against their will. A dark cloud has gathered over Nigeria.

Niger Delta Update 2016

My Letter To Niger Delta Avengers And Their Supporters. .

By Sapele Olofofo

. Before I start I have a few questions for you supporters. . 1. Where did the Niger Delta Struggle go to in the last 6 years' . 2. Why is there so much vandalization of oil facilities off late' . 3. Is it true you don't want Tompolo arrested . 4. Is the allegations leveled on Tompolo true' If no, why has he not honoured the invitation and if yes, then the so called development money you are looking for was outrightly swallowed by him. . Thank you, permit me to roll in my mind on the issue on ground. . Before the emergence of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as president, the likes of Ankio Briggs, Asari Dokubo, OpunaboNkot 'Tariah, Ledum Metee, Edwin Clark etc were always on Television telling Nigerians and the world how the South-South has been marginalized by the North and the West despiteher oil. .

By divine and metaphysical error, Goodluck Jonathan from the South-South, the presumed Nazareth of Nigeria became the president of Nigeria after President Umaru Yaradua's death in 2009.His emergence came as a joyous daybreak to end our age-long marginalization . . There was a beacon light of hope for my region. Immediately, the Niger Delta struggle stumbled and died or gone Comatose. . The Niger Delta activists mentioned above became Jonathan's spokespersons and abandoned the struggle. In 2011, Nigerians, Hausa,Yoruba, Igbo, Edo, Christians and Muslims voted massively for Jonathan. Thereafter, administrative thieves were appointed Ministers and head of federal institutions,- Convicted criminals received presidential pardon.- Militants were given contracts running into billions of Naira.- Impunity and corruption became the norm. .

All these and many more replaced the Niger Delta struggle for resource control. The need for constant electricity, portable water, good health facilities, good road network, massive manpower development etc went into oblivion. Even the recent Ogoni UNEP report that would have changed the live of an average Ogoni man was not implemented by their regional brother - president. Recall that NDDC was established by Olusegun Obasanjo a Yoruba man. Ministry of Niger and Amnesty Office was established by Late,President Umaru Musa Yaradua, a Northerner. Regrettably, this two federal agencies including NIMASA and NNPC became conduit pipes for Jonathan's Wife, Nyesom Wike, Deziani Allison, Godswill Apkabio and many cronies of Jonathan to Molest and siphon funds meant for the development of the Niger Delta region. . Credibility died. Equity died. Competence died. Due process died. Conscience died. .

And the Niger Delta struggle died in their son's hand. . Former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, knowing that the South - South may not have the opportunity of Producing the President of Nigeria again cried out and they called him a betrayer. They fought him with federal might and pushed him out of PDP, a replicate of what Joseph's brothers did when they sold him to the Ishmelites. . But today Amaechi is laughing because they pushed him to stardom. . Even the East/ West road that was awarded by former President Obasanjo and inherited by Yaradua and later Jonathan is still not completed. . Bayelsa State today does not have an airport or a strong federal government institution that can generate employment opportunities for Bayelsa youths. Few months to the Presidential election, Ankio Briggs, Asari Dokubo, Edwin Clark, Nyesom Wike, Tompolo Government, Kingsley Kuku, etc awaken the Niger Delta struggle. .

What a shame, What an irony' . For five years nobody heard them because they were swimming and sleeping on money. When Goodluck Ebele Jonathan eventually contested and lost the 2015 Presidential election to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC,the House of Assembly of all South-South states became a compensation point for militants ( Former and Active).Everything was done with the police and INEC to ensure that cronies of Jonathan and his wife were declared winners of the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the South-South especially Rivers State and Bayelsa. . And if Jonathan had won the last election and ruled for another ten years, there won't be any hope for the actualization of the Niger Delta Struggle. . Go to Oloibiri and other villages in Ijaw land and see the level of environmental degradation yet their son was president of Nigeria for six years. . People are living a stone-age life over there, no land to build a house, no pipe burn water, no hospital, no school and no road yet some people will seat in Abuja and Portharcourt collecting billions of Naira as Champions of the Niger Delta struggle. . I read some few days ago that the President has directed the release of the funds meant for the clean up of Ogoni Land. What their own son was reluctant to implement after spending a whole six years in office, but here is a man in less than 1 year set up a committee to look into the delay and now they are ripe to implement. . Who is fooling who? Are they fighting for the cause of Niger Delta or their pockets? .

When you bomb an oil installation, you put your own people at risk health wise. . Your waters in the village is contaminated . You reduce the federal allocation to the state . You reduce power supply capacity. . Buhari does not stay in your village, he does not need water to drink from your village, the power supply any where he is will not blink a second even if you decide to bomb your whole village. This is a compendium og foolishness. . The people who will suffer from the mental selfish exercise were not empowered the last 6 years, those who benefited from the loots have squandered the loots on women, drinks and landed property if not why has Tompolo even after his bank account was frozen and some of his property sealed by the federal government, he still choose to be in hiding. . Niger Deltans Be Wise! . What Good luck could not give to them in the last 6 years, they now want Buhari to give them in 1 year, madness indeed.

TO HELL WITH THE NIGER DELTA (SC)AVENGERS: WHO NEEDS OIL TO SURVIVE?

By Iyore Agho

Ever since the creation of the Nigerian State by the British Colonial Adventurers and Empire Builders, two unfortunate things truncated our march to greatness: Discovery of Crude Oil (in 1956 in Oloibiri) In the Niger Delta region and the transition to Civilian Rule in 1999 (Which brought the‪#‎Oloriburuku‬ ‪#‎Masanfani‬ PDP to power).

Before the discovery and exploration of oil, Nigeria was renowned for her agrarian economy which saw cash crops like: palm oil and Kernel, groundnut, cocoa, timber and rubber, etc being exported to other countries around the globe. In fact, at some point, Malaysia, one of the fastest growing economies of the world today was said to be one of the major buyers of Nigeria's oil palm seedlings. Ironically, Malaysia today is ranked as the world's largest producer of palm oil! The Agricultural sector back then offered employment opportunities to over 70% of the total Nigerian labour force, and that's aside from the fact that it provided sufficient food crops for local consumption as well as raw materials for local industries.

Unfortunately, the past as they say is history, as immediately after oil was discovered and explored, successive administrations in the country looked away from Agriculture and all attention was focused on oil. Today, 60 years later, Nigeria cannot in all honesty claim to be the best economy in West Africa, let alone in the whole African continent. The pyramids (of food crops) of the North as well as Cocoa farms in the Southwest all vanished one after the other. In 2003, Nigeria, the once upon a time exporter of agricultural produce to Asian countries (Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore) became the largest importer of rice! Isn't that ironic? The biggest mistake our leaders made was to "kill the goose that was laying the golden eggs".

Agriculture is the bedrock of any meaningful economic development because of its sustainability and relative predictability. While it is true that during the years of oil boom, oil contributed over 80% of our foreign exchange earnings, as at 2014, statistics showed that the Petroleum Industry only contributes about 14% to the economy. And with crude prices being determined by International Markets, Nigeria risks falling into recession should crude oil fall any further. What this simply implies is that it is time for Government to move beyond the usual "We shall diversify the economy" stage to making huge investments in the Agricultural sector. Government at all levels must move beyond advancing loans to farmers to making the Agricultural sector one of the largest and most lucrative sectors in the country.

With multi billion dollars investment in Agriculture and an effective ban on rice and other commodities that can be produced locally, before Buhari finishes his second term (hopefully), our nation will be reinstated back to its rightful position, not only in Africa but also in the world at large. The only reason why ‪#‎idiots‬ and products of baby factories in the Niger Delta region are holding us to ransom with their agitation for the sovereign state of ‪#‎Biafra‬ is because of our over dependence on oil. Once the government decides to look away from oil, that will be the beginning of the end of their agitation. I am sure that President Buhari is thinking in that direction. He is capable (with God's permission) to change the direction of this country from that perilous path to the path of greatness. We cannot continue to live in extreme want and abject poverty in the midst of abundance. Nigeria is abundantly blessed with natural resources and we must explore and utilized them for our collective good. If before oil was discovered, we survived and lived I have no iota of doubt that we can still survive without oil. Unfortunately, are we ready to take that bold step?

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO, THE PRESIDENT NIGERIA NEVER HAD AND PA ANTHONY ENAHORO

By: Omonire Ovwigho Isaac.

Today when people are busy writing and publishing the progress and failure of a failed governments across the Nation, I am busy thinking about the Nigeria President we never had. Awolowo and Pa Anthony Enahoro made it very clear that a true Federalism is the only solution to this Nation called Nigeria; before he died, he kept saying it. But nobody listened to him. And how the failed Nigeria Government diverted people's attention from Pa Anthony Enahoro dream for Nigeria is still what I do not even understand. Today you hardly hear people talking about true FEDERALISM but instead they talk of true OPPRESSISM. Is an abomination to talk of a true OPPRESSISM instead of TRUE FEDERALISM.

I read President Buhari's speech that we should help him build Nigeria and forget about Biafra and the Sovereign State of Niger Delta. Well that's a good one from Mr. President. But for we to work hand in hand to build this Nation that is collapsing gradually then, you must go back to your drawing board and remove those policies that are dividing this Nation more and more; those policies that are fanning the flames of the Niger Delta Avenger; those policies that finance grazing bill and Sharia law and put the ones of Awolowo and Pa Anthony Enahoro

And those Fulani herdsmen who take pleasure in killing, raping, murdering, armed robbery, must be treated likewise. Because you cannot help build a Nation where your son, your daughter, your wife, your brother, your sister, your mother, your father, and or your friends are being killed by Fulani herdsmen yet, nothing is being done about it. It is when those things are being tackled then, we can say and I quote "yes it is time to build Nigeria". And then we would start building with our imaginations, our ideas, our faiths and our hopes. Because we know in our hearts that government cannot solve all of our problems.

I do not need to write Book today. But I would advise Mr. President to go back to Awolowo and Pa Anthony Enahoro solution to the Nigeria's greater challenges. Because a big and mighty seed of hatred has been planted in our hearts by our politicians and we cannot deny it. And true Federalism is the only solution to that seed of hatred.

And yes, our divide and rule leaders have succeeded completely by telling us that who rule Nigeria is either a Muslim or a Christian, whether the person is a Northener or a Southerner and as such we're divided. And the ones with the highest level of ignorance can't even see for once that those people have no plans for us but to divide us and share all the wealth of this Nation among themselves. And truly they've succeeded dividing us for their selfish purpose. And remember that "a house divided against itself cannot stand".

Thank you!

The moral of this long story...unless we southerners learn to be united other tribes will keep oppressing us” - Raphael Igbineweka .

When The World Powers Gather, They Gather To Divide, Nigerians Watch Out For This New Gathering.

When regional and world powers gather, what they gather for is to divide and never to unite, if you do not believe me, google “Berlin Conference 1884”. Recently, it was made public that world powers gathered in Abuja to discuss Boko Haram, but let’s not be fooled, they are not talking of how to end their creation ‘Boko Haram’, they are gathered to talk about how to share the geographical location called Nigeria.
For those that care to follow, you will observe that major news media has been singing and making Boko Haram popular in the media, they brand and call Boko Haram the world most dangerous terrorist group, what they are simply doing is to create a sympathetic followership for the people of Nigeria, to make people tune in and watch what happens in Nigeria daily as that gains momentum, they will strike in a deadly way, yes, Boko Haram will pull a huge stunt that will make the world or even the UN security council to send troops to Nigeria, they will take over, major world powers will take over specific parts of the country, and that ends the days of once a great country called Nigeria. Boko Haram was a project tested in the North East of Nigeria, now Fulani Herdsmen is another project been tested all over Nigeria, in the last few weeks and months, the so-called Fulani Herdsmen have struck in almost all regions and hinterlands, they have mapped everywhere and when next they return, they will be staying for a long long time.

When you see the romance between Gen Buhari and the western leaders, when you see how Gen Buhari happily called Nigeria Fantastically corrupt and took sides with David Camron, when you see how General Buhari is creating more and more failed policies, you will figure out that he is trying to set a chaotic stage for unrest which will lead to sections of Nigeria wanting to break away. Nigeria is heating up section by section, the Niger Delta area is ready to go away, Biafra is ranting, the Oduduwa people which have strong links to the former Benin Kingdom are watching and thinking of talking to their hereditary home of Benin in Edo state if to break away, the middle belt people of Nigeria are finding more reasons to hate the core northern Nigeria while the northern guys are busy thinking they are the most superior and can take sides with Fulani herdsmen to kill anyone from any community. Nigeria is cracking day in day out and the western powers know exactly when to ignite the break up.
Soon I will unveil how the world powers will benefit from the occupation, i will tell you how the Hausa Fulani will collaborate and align with the Western powers to rip the rest of Nigeria especially the South-South Region off their resources, but for now, I advise all regions to be at alert, Nigeria will be occupied soon, when I do not know, Nigeria has been shared amongst world and regional leaders, who is to control where, I cannot tell you now but what I can say is be wise and ready, the French, Britain, United States, Russia, and even baby Canada will take control of some regions soon. Nigerians, be ready, Berlin Conference 2.0 is at hand.

COMRADE ADAMS OSHIONMOLE INSULT OBA OF BENIN AND EDO PEOPLE..

Our attention has been drawn to a recent offensive announcement on NTA news and publication by Comrade Adam Oshionmole’s Government on This Day, 14th of May 2016, ( http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/05/24/edo-govt-approves-appointment-of-new-oba-of-benin/ /) titled “EDO GOVT APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF NEW OBA OF BENIN “

A This Day publication and NTA news further states “Edo State Government has approved the appointment of His Royal Highness Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the Oba of Benin, with effect from 29th April, 2016. In a letter dated 24th May, 2016 signed by the Secretary to State Government, Prof Julius Omozuanvbo Ihonvbere, OON, titled: “Appointment of His Royal Highness Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the Oba of Benin” the Government said: “it is hereby notified for general information that in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 19 (1) of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, 1979 (as amended) and by virtue of all other laws enabling it in that behalf, the Executive Council of the Edo State Government of Nigeria has approved the appointment of His Royal Highness Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the Oba of Benin, with effect from 29th day of April, 2016."

The Oba of Benin or "Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo" is the traditional ruler of the Edo people and head of the historic Ogiso and Eweka dynasty of the Great Benin Empire - A West African empire that once spead on the bight of Benin to Dahomey – now Republic of Benin, capital in Benin City, in modern-day Nigeria. The title of Oba was created by Oba Eweka I, Benin Empire's 34th ruler from Ogiso. who is said to have ascended to power at some time between 1180 and 1300. The Oba of Benin was the Head of State (Emperor) of the Benin Empire until the Empire's annexation by the British, in 1897.

The title "Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo" simply means His Royal Majesty the "born king" of Benin and not just the son of a king as previously speculated or imagined. There is only one line and the title passes from father to son world without end. Oba is not appointed by any government but the only business of the State Government in the transition process, is the PRESENTATION of STAFF OF OFFICE to the new Oba after a successful CORONATION in accordance with the custom and tradition of the people of Benin Kingdom.

The Benin royal dynasty is monolithic that is unique in many ways because the Benin Oba does not abdicate and even when the incumbent is exiled like happened with Oba Overamen, the Benins still found some ways to reinvent the wheel and to keep their tradition intact and pure. After the Philip expedition encounter with the British intruders in 1897, no successor could be named and formally crowned a king in Benin as long as the last Oba was still alive.

The Oba of Benin is something else in Nigeria. Even with the rule of Law taking hold in Nigeria, you don't fool around with the Oba of Benin without a price to pay. The 6 Usama chiefs, the highest ranking chiefs in Benin know it. Everybody knows it. The Oba of Benin is not taken lightly or taken for granted. It is a taboo in Benin to cast aspersions on the person of the Oba.

The Benin Oba is treated in many ways as first among equals compared to other monarchs in Nigeria and most Nigerians know that the Edo people value their traditional institutions and that the Oba of Benin is a breed apart who cannot be compared with so many of his peers in Nigeria. The Oba owns the land and he owns the people. Anything Benin people have are owned at the pleasure of the Oba who can make and unmake. It is no one else but the Oba of Benin who is a god in his own right that nobody fools around with. Whatever he says is final. He usually covers his mouth because when he talks he is the supreme authority. People talk on his behalf most of the time and whatever they proclaim "ex cathedra" like the Pope becomes the Law with immediate effect.

The way the Oba of Benin still carries himself is totally different from the way his peers elsewhere carry themselves. You don't appoint or contest to become the Oba of Benin. You are born into it from the cradle. The "Edaiken", the heir apparent to the Benin throne is almost as powerful as his father even though he too has his limitations just like the Oba of Benin is also constrained by some of the traditional laws of the kingdom.

If you offend the Oba of Benin, or you are fighting the king you are not just fighting one person, you are fighting all of his previous predecessors in the spiritual realm. It is a battle you cannot win. If the Oba gets angry with you, and the Oba goes into the inner chamber of the Palace to put on his special red garment otherwise known as "Ododo" and curse you wearing that garment, there is no way in the world you can ever get rid of that curse.

It is a known military tactic to destroy the moral of a people by first undermining them, you starting this process by disdaining their revered culture, customs, norms, values, traditional institutions, and edifice to which they attach or ascribe so much importance and value. We can draw a parallel from the metaphor and idiom of killing a snake, which says that to kill a snake you cut of the head. Usually, this idiom is used in a battle or military application in which you remove the most dangerous opponent or the leader first, so that the other enemies will be easier to deal with. The US is renowned for using "cutting off the head of the snake" as a legitimate strategy in war: to remove or disable the enemy's leadership to shorten or lessen hostilities. It has been used since the beginning of warfare, though it is a difficult stratagem to perform successfully, since the King of a kingdom, or leadership of a nation or army is most closely guarded. However, when it is successful, swift victory is usually assured.
Similarly, given the sacred and sacrosanct nature of OBA of Benin to the Benins, if Comrade Oshiomhole can undermine the OBA or sacrilegiously reduce his hereditary position to mere appointment, and publish same in a national newspaper and NTA news drawing on the power conferred by Section 19 (1) of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, 1979 (as amended) and Section 20(1) of the Chiefs Law (Cap. 37) (he is attempting to "cut off the head of the snake"). By invoking the virtue of all other enabling laws, he is indirectly suggesting to the Benin people that the OBA is beneath his power (or him). As such, he can use the Nigerian Constitutional power vested in him to appoint or sack the Oba of Benin at will without any consequences.

There is a serious lacuna between the interpretation of the Chiefs Law and the dictates of the Benin tradition and customs, because the OBA is not an appointment but a hereditary kingship. Now let’s further hyperbolise Comrade Oshionmole’s dangerous direct public confrontation with the Benin tradition and custom. If Section 20(1) of the Chiefs Law (Cap. 37) mandates Comrade Oshionmhole to appoint the OBA of Benin rather than to simply present him with a Staff of Office, does this mean that he is vested with the power, by virtue of this law to sack, replace or decide who should be crowned OBA of Benin? This serious legal and constitutional lacuna and conundrum required urgent review because the OBA of Benin is too esteemed and colossi for a “small fish” like Oshionmhole to politically fry or tickle with, hoping there will be no repercussion.

We must go back in history to note that the Oba of Benin once put an embargo on the "Agho" title in Benin City saying that no one from the famous Obaseki family in Benin would ever be named to the title because of the feud with Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi and his son Edaiken who later became Oba Eweka, once had with the Obaseki’s while waiting to succeed his father.
Drawing on the principles of devils advocacy, one is incline to question whether this resent public pronouncement that is tantamount to undermining the revered and venerated position of the Oba of Benin in NTA news and This Day, national daily newspaper publication respectively further underscore the undercurrent grand design or schemes by Comrade Oshionmhole to help his “surrogate son” Godwin Obaseki to settle his family scores with the Oba Ovonramwen and Oba Eweka for not recognising his forefather as with the “Agho of Benin title”.

We must also recall that history is repeating itself here. Comrade Oshionmhole recently insulted the departed Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo by addressing him as "iconoclastic royal father". The word, iconoclastic meant "attacking or ignoring cherished beliefs and long-held traditions, based on error, superstition, or lack of creativity". It also means a person that is intolerant of other religious beliefs.

We all know that Adams Oshiomhole's is a clever and scheming man. His description of our departed King and father in such a disdaining manner was calculated to present him in bad light. The Oba has been the custodian of long held customs of his people and at no time has anyone complained that he was deviating from the beautiful customs of his people. Therefore, to describe our revered monarch, who is the embodiment of Edo, especially Benin people, as "iconoclastic royal father" is to insult our Oba and insult to all Edo, especially Benin people.

The evidence suggests that Comrade Oshionmole is no respecter of persons, tradition or custom. This position was echoed in his recent public address to group of solidarity protesters that marched to the House of Assembly complex and Government House by saying to them: “Let me assure you, I will continue without fear of man, but with the fear of God to provide leadership that will deliver prosperity to the great people of this great state. To be able to do that, everybody, everybody born of a woman who lives in this state must be subjected to the rule of law

). This suggests to mind that since our Oba is also “born of woman”, he, Comrade Oshiomole can disrespect him without any repercussion whatsoever.
In similar vein, many Benin unsung heroes and heroines protested and criticized Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole for pouring insults on the person of the Esama of Benin, Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, an enigma who has contributed immensely to the development of the state through employment of many people (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYu4jgklSKo). Governor, Adams Oshiomhole insulted Prince Ekpen Erediauwa, who subsequently resigned his appointment from the government of Governor Adams Oshiomhole as the Executive Director (Government House), because the state governor harassed and threatened his life over a parcel of land at Okoro-Otun Avenue, GRA in Benin City, which he legally acquired from the Federal Government. This came on heels of the demolition of the official residence of some staff of the University of Benin including Prof. Osayuki Godwin Oshodin, former Vice-chancellor of University of Benin by the governor as the dust raised by that action was getting settled, (http://www.nigerdeltanews.com/benin-prince-resigns-from-ed …/).

We also know that Governor Adams Oshiomhole has done everything within his power to emasculate and destroy Hon. (Dr) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State ( http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/04/plot-kill-oshiomhole-apc-intensifies-peace-moves-odubu/ /  and http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/05/08/edo-2016-oshiomhole-and-odubu-at-war/
It is on record that Deputy Governor Odubu and Governor Adams Oshiomhole have been rumoured to have been at loggerheads because he (Dr. Odubu) declared his intention to contest the gubernatorial election in the state, and Oshiomhole is in support of the Chairman of the Economic Team of the state government Godwin Obaseki. Dr. Odubu was even accused of contracting a Native Doctor to kill the governor, which he denied ( https://www.bellanaija.com/2016/05/edo-deputy-governor-pius-odubu-escapes-assassination/ ).
The aforementioned, are factual evidence that corroborates Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s anti-Benin Chiefs and anti-Benin Royal stance and grand scheme to position himself as the legitimate Edo Emperor, which must be resisted by all meaning Benin people worldwide.

The pre-eminence and greatness of the Omo n'oba ne edo, the Oba of Benin is captured and recognised in the following appellations, tributes and superiorities by the Benin people. The Oba Benin is: Ovbi' Umogun Oza (The Child of the Oba whose mother hailed from Oza), Ovbi' Ekpen N' Owa (The son of the home leopard), Ovbi' Adimila (The son of Adimila), Ikeji Orisa (Second in command to the gods), Agbaghe, N'Ovbi Olokun (Olokun's son, the cynosure of all mortals), Abieyuwa N'Ovbi Odua N'uhe (The son of the wealthy Odua of Uhe(Ife), Ovbi' Ada, Ovbi' Eben (The child of the owner of the Ada = scimitar and Eben = royal sword, Edo symbol of sovereignty), Ovbi' Ekenekene ma deyo (The son of beauty that never fades), Ovbi'Ekuaho N'Olo, Ovbi'Ekuabo N'Olo (The son of the rocky arm, the brave and powerful), Ovbie Ikpinhianbo kpuru no Gb'oduma (The son of the short fingered man that was still able to kill a lion), Nohien utete no gh'ughe s'omwan (The king on a hill, who sees more than everybody), Ovbi'Oghonwan nei bun aro (The son of the fearless, who looks without twinkling his eyes), Ovbi'ode, ode n'ohan ren mu' ete (The son of the warrior whose enemies got frightened at the announcement of the approach), Uku Akpolokpolo (The mighty that rules), Ovbi' Adolo no dolo uwa dolo utomwen/b] (The son of the wise judge and peace maker who combined wisdom and wealth with long life, ([b] Ovbi' oven owie no gbaisi (The son of the morning sun that covers everywhere), Ovbi' Akpogunla, ogie no y'igho b'owa (The child of the womb of Akpogunla – the warrior who fought big wars and built a house of cowries), Oba n'osa (A king that is god), Ovbi' otolo n'olomi; Ologberonmwon nei rie iruen, ebo, ayemwinre eminiminimini (The son of the water controller, the son of beauty itself, the starter of things and the person whose reign saw people with many tongues).

For the above accolades and many other reasons, we must not allow our esteemed and larger than life Oba of Benin to be publicly disdained or undermined as a politically appointed Oba by Comrade Adam Oshionmole without consequences. Those concerned with this horrifying publication in This Day and NTA news on 24th May, 2016 must expeditiously RETRACT same, to avert a transcendental visitation!!

The Oba of Benin is born and not made, Oshiomhole's statement, a sacrilege

There is no debating the fact that an Oba in Benin is installed by the Benin king makers(Usama N’Ihinron), not the governor of Edo State.
The governor of Edo State, following the military inherited Section 19 of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, 1979, is only to recognize a duly installed Oba and present the ceremonial staff of office after the traditional authority has concluded the coronation process. The statement by Edo State Government regarding the appointment of Oba of Benin by Adams Oshiomhole is therefore another “iconoclastic” blunder, executive rascality, administrative arrogance and apparently disdainful display crude use of brute power him - a slap on the face of the Benin monarchy and the good people of Benin.

In a megalomaniac statement dated 24th May 2016, issued by what has become known as the iconoclastic government led by Adams Oshiomhole, published in many national dailies, a supposed professor of Political Science and Secretary to the Government of Edo State announced, albeit arrogantly, the “appointment of HRH Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Ehenede Erediauwa as Oba of Benin without prior consultation nor input of the Crown Prince, Benin Traditional Council or the Palace of the Oba of Benin, to which such matter relates – while the obsequies was still on for the former Oba. This is the apogee and height of disrespect, and callous disregard to our revered traditional institution.

It is therefore not surprising that within twenty four hours, there have been massive outpouring of both emotive and rational reactions to the gaffe of the government that is ever acting as alien to us, a reaction which has led the government withdrawing the cursed statement today in a letter signed by the same Secretary to the government of the state. The wording of the withdrawal betrayed evidence of the true intentions of the government in issuing the statement in the first instance.
“The said letter was issued in error as the rites of passage of His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba of Benin are still on”.

The withdrawal came without apology. This may also have been deliberate. The true intention of the APC and Adams Oshiomhole led Edo State government was egoistic, nay – megalomaniac - futile attempt to denigrate the Benin crown, reduce the dignity, prestige and majesty of the Benin crown, and attempt to demystify the glorious mysteries of the Benin Kingdom. This ulterior motive of Adams Oshiomhole and his outgoing iconoclastic APC government in Edo State can be deduced by the x-raying the three main patterns described in the following paragraph and that that have played out within the last 30 days or so.

First, the Edo State government released an article last month describing Oba Erediauwa as an iconoclastic Oba. Shortly after the announcement on Friday April 29 of the passage of Oba Erediauwa, Adams Oshiomhole caused an iconoclastic condolence message to be released which offended the palace and the Benin people. Upon reaction by the public, the government through an aide (rather than the governor making such apology himself) apologized to the palace but he ignored the Benin people who he also offended.

Secondly, the Edo State government, on May 3, disturbed the peace of Benin City by violently removing the former Speaker with thugs, urchins, gunshots and tear gas at the Oba palace area during the mourning period. This is further demonstration of the suspicion that it is a deliberate slight to the Benin people and disregard for the sorrowful mood at the time. Why could Oshiomhole not ask his legislators to sheathe their swords in respect of the mourning of the Oba?
And thirdly, Oshiomhole hurriedly announced that he was appointing the Oba of Benin. The statement by the Edo State government that HRH Prince Ehenede Erediauwa has been “appointed” as the Oba of Benin is not only an abomination but a sacrilege to everything reverent about Benin Kingdom. This is the apogee of disrespect. Oshiomhole, and indeed the governor of Edo State, does not have the right to ‘appoint’ the Oba. The Oba of Benin does not derive his legitimacy or authority from any government anywhere in the world, let alone a state governor like Edo State government.
Can Oshiomhole appoint an Oba? Even if there was a so-called Section 19 of the contentious and pointless 1979 Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law that purportedly empowers the government to recognize (not appoint, in the case of Oba where there is no contention) an Oba who is corronated by the traditional authority of Benin. In Benin, we call them Uzama N’Ihinron.

We agree that no one is perfect. However, there are higher degrees of responsibility expected from certain high office holders, especially those who have aides and assistants provided for them by tax payers’ money for the purpose of minimizing errors and maximizing effectiveness. A state government is one of such high offices. The plethora of errors, nay blunders, that have characterized this government of Adams Oshiomhole and the APC in Edo state, in recent times, leaves decent and intelligent people to begin to wonder whether this government hasn’t broken down irreparably or its chief officer gone berserk.

We the Benin people are still offended by these gaffes by the Edo State government, and even more annoyed for the following reasons.
1. The governor, not the Secretary to the Government, should have done the withdrawal, and apologized, in light of the gravity of the grievous harm that the announcement has caused our Benin people and our monarchy.
2. The governor has belittled the significance of the coronation of a Benin monarch, usurping the traditional functions of the Uzama N’Ihinron of Benin kingdom.
3.The governor is making the highly cherished traditional rites of ascension to the Oba of Benin of no effect.
4. The governor is giving non-Benins, and even some unsuspecting Benins, the wrong impression that he is the one that has the capacity to appoint an Oba for Benin thereby downplaying the well-known primogeniture ascension rule of Benin kingdom, and most of Edo state peoples.
5. The governor, by his repeated acts of subtle aggression, is daring the Benin people, overstretching our patience and spoiling for a dirty war which would most likely consume him, his party and everything he stands for. Onyearuegbulem is a ready case study in the Benin principle of Aiguobasimwin.

In light of the above identified further flaw of a thoughtless non-remorseful withdrawal by Edo State government in light of such grievous, provocative and denigrating announcement which the government calls ‘error’, I am calling the leadership of the APC, particularly the Comrade Governor, Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomhole, to come out and publicly apologize, not only to the Benin monarchy - but also, to the Benin people who feel particularly socially embarrassed, psychologically deflated and generally hurt by the grievous harm that that erroneous and annoying announcement has done to the Benin psyche; our collective pride, our cultural heritage and our public image locally, nationally and internationally. Anything short of this further clearly defined apology would make the now popularly held belief to stick for fact, that Adams Oshiomhole is doing all these things to deliberately spite us the Benins and also to denigrate our Crown. But the Enikaro of Benin will resist anyone who seeks to embarrass the Benin or our ancient institutions.
