Protest in Benin, over fuel scarcity as it affects the country.

A group that calls itself “Talakawa Parliament” in-conjunction with the Returnee Foundation and Traders Welfare Union of Nigeria staged a peaceful protest against the lingering fuel scarcity that has caused untold hardship on the downtrodden people in Nigeria. Marxist Kola Edokpayi, Solomon Okoduwa, Lucky Orukpe and Armstrong Ovie Afabor who spoke on behalf of other protesters said that it was out of place and sardonic to see the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces touring the countries of the world without realizing the poverty, hunger and unemployment Nigerians are faced with daily coupled with the fuel scarcity situation that has continued to bite harder on the people as every day passes.

The groups brandished various placards with inscriptions as “End Fuel scarcity Now” Kill Corruption, don’t Kill Nigerians” and “President Buhari must Stop the Frequent Foreign trips”, decried the untold hardship her residents were faced with, calling for his resignation from office as minister of petroleum for his failure to address the plights of Nigerians and appealed to the international communities to as a matter of urgency, deter him from making further foreign trip describing his frequent trips overseas as insignificant in the face of the country’s protracted fuel scarcity and lingering economic woes.
They added that despite the fact that Nigeria, the giant of Africa is an oil producing country, its major export which is fuel is now sold at exorbitant price across the country for between N250 and N400 per litre, some people sleep in filling stations for days before getting the product to buy. This is an ugly development and it is unwelcomed, we must all rise against this unprecedented situation that has sequestrated the masses to the dustbin of history.
