“Tyrants don’t give up power, they must be overtly defected and disgraced”
Tyranny is a perennial danger for mankind, recurring again and again throughout history, and it has been a subject of discourse for many great thinkers from the ancient Greeks to the present. Edo State subtlety approach in the last 7 years has given rise to a despotic rule under Adams Oshionmole.
We can no longer afford to be complacent in our war against the evil tyrant and despotic Adams Oshionmole in Edo State. We have started to witness his evil ploys and manoeuvres. Even the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium has been denied PDP because it is now his personal property. When does a public property become a governor’s personal asset?
His thugs are ravaging and molesting Edo State people with Pastor Ize-Iyamu stickers on their cars, vans or buses. He has banned the EBS and Observer newspaper from featuring any news associated with PDP or Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu (POI).
Yet many of us are still deeply hallucinating and romanticising the thoughts that we are dealing with a democrat rather than a evil conniving despot. He has tried a smear campaign on Pastor Ize-Iyamu through the EFCC and failed.
He has teamed up the evil Judas in the person of dishonourable Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, a PDP defeated governorship aspirant in Edo state who is working with another ignominious Ali Modu Sheriff against his own party. We must remember that this same dangerous Ali Modu Sheriff is the confounder of Boko Haram in Bornu State.
Ali Modu Sheriff wants to annul a legitimate and transparent PDP gubernatorial primaries that was conducted in Edo State using multiple law suits to mock the Nigerian legal process and exposed the grave weaknesses in our judiciary jurisprudence.
His action has so far reduced the image of the Nigerian judiciary as incoherent and disorganised body. The judiciary has become a mere circus where three High Court Judges gave three conflicting judgement on the same case within three days. This has caused confusion, anxiety and anticipation among onlookers and pundits. It has also reduced the confidence across our democratic institutions and judicial system as the arbiter of fairness and justices. We are witnessing the banging of learned heads in a dangerous and divisive gladiatorial fight. This developing situation not properly managed, could create untold mayhem and metamorphous into a full-scale civil war in Edo State in the next few days, that even the evil genius, like Oshionmole will run for a cover.
We must pulse, think and reflect on these development because Oshionmole has no monopoly over violence, though we are against lawlessness and sadism. We must ask ourselves why the Edo State 2016 election is a do or die affair to Adams Oshionmole?
Is it because, he Adams Oshionmole genuinely believes that he is the only person divinely ordained to develop Edo State? Or is it because he is desperately fighting to cover is own corrupt records and public funds embezzlement from been exposed?
However we chose to interpret this happenings in Edo State, it is self-evident that this man is evil and he has no heart. Remember, he told a poor widow to go and die.
He used his Commissioner for Environment Clem Agba to harass and beat up Benin market women and prevented them from trading on the street after his stewards had collected money in the name of IGR from them.
He almost tried to assassinate his Deputy Governor Hon. Odubu for daring to express interest in the 2016 gubernatorial primaries.
This man publicly disgraced even his loyal staff Col. Oloye who he gave power to conduct his landscaping project and policy.
This evil man sacked all government staff and commissioners loyal to his Deputy and financially strangulated them despite their previous hard work to support his government and party in the last 7 years.
We must look beyond his cosmetic phantasmagoria roads and red roofs revolution. We must inform our people that half of the counterpart funding for the red roofs was from the federal government Universal Basic Education Funds. And most of the roads he parades as his doings are federal roads constructed by Jonathan Goodluck.
We must study his antecedents and learn what the future would be from another 8 years of emperor Oshionmole and his crony Obaseki in Edo State.
Oshionmole publicly claimed to be the employer of “Oba of Benin”. Even when he was cautioned and reprimanded, he refused to apologise but only withdrew the statement, and never apologised publicly for undermining and disrespecting our esteemed royalty.
He has molested many noble Benin Chiefs and even the Prince of Benin Kingdom was not spared. He has emasculated and reduced some of our esteemed chiefs and personalities to “crumbs collectors” and “crumbs scavengers” at government house. Yet our people pretended not to be aware of his evil menacing behaviours.
He destroyed many famous and heritage buildings in Benin City without compensation including, the Agidigbi House in King Square based on force promise of building shopping mall. The state government had apparently acquired the more than 100-year-old building from the Agidigbi family for the purpose of constructing a shopping mall and a 7 star hotel on its grounds. This project was abandoned yet my people are not asking questions.
At the time of the force acquisition of the Agidigbi House, the Edo State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Didi Adodo said the state government bought over the building “for public interest”.
He also debunked the allegation that traders were given a week notice, saying the government had acquired the building and others around the area, gazetted the acquisition and published it in national newspapers since last year.
Clem Agba, the state commissioner for Environment, also said the takeover of the area was part of government’s effort to modernize the city.
“It is part of the enhancement of the beautification going on around the King’s square area.” Mr Agba said. “The Comrade Governor wants to set standard in terms of buildings to be seen around the area.”
Seven years on, where is the beautification, the public interest and the effort to modernize the city? We must ask this penitent questions and demand answers now.
Only a mad knucklehead would embark on these fastidious hocus-pocus, hey presto and abracadabra plans on a hoof. These projects were ill-conceived under the able-watch of Godwin Obaseki the infamous Chairman of Oshionmole’s Economic Team. Under the lopsided Godwin Obaseki economic advisory chairmanship, no single industry was created or supported in Edo State in 7 years, and no civil service personnel were recruited or promoted during his tenure in 7 years either. Even the much paraded and celebrated prefabricated Centre Hospital building in Benin City does not have any useful medical equipments to make it functionally relevant to our patients and medical personnel.
Yet, Edo State people call the half-baked incompetent Godwin Obaseki a technocrat! Again, under his technocratic chairmanship, Edo State economy nosedived, it was undiversified and infested by streams of multiple taxation in the name of IGR which drove away investors and businesses from the State.
For example, I was in Edo State this April, 2016. Do you know that you now need a three years tax clearance certificate to register a new vehicle plate number in Edo State? As a result, Edo State now has more Delta State, Ondo State and Lagos State plate numbers, losing the State valuable IGR. Is this consistent with the policy of the much acclaimed technocrat or that of a renowned knucklehead?
Oshionmole and Obaseki collected and mismanaged the N30 billion naira loan earmarked for Edo water storm project. Edo State people, look around you today in midst of our dreaded raining season, do you feel safer from floods and erosion, even after your government borrowed and allegedly spent N30 billion naira to prevent you from such floods and erosion?
Worst of all, Godwin Obaseki cajoled and deceived Edo State people that he is working under a pro-bono contract with Edo State government whilst collecting over N600 million naira fees for helping to secure just one loan for Edo State.
Similarly, in the last 7 years, Godwin Obaseki has collected billions in consultancy fees merely for plunging Edo State into billions of debts. The repayments of these loans would take at least two generations to service. Is this the man, we want to head our economic restructuring and energise the upward social mobility of our improvised society?
Our state is among the highest indebted state in Nigeria. Yet we are exhibiting an attitude of mute indifference and passive complicit to the two musketeers, Adams Oshionmole's and Godwin Obaseki’s ineptitude and bastardisation of our democratic process and values.
The Edo political climate will never be the same again, since the arrival of the shortest Iroko tree (Oshoimhole) into the political landscape of our dear "native land" Edo state. He has fully monetised election in the state, even to local government level. We are all living witnesses to the just concluded primary election of the APC where Oshomhole gave out 450,000 each of tax payer’s money to over 2500 delegates at the election. This is just the one that was made public. He equally gave out a huge sum to each ward executive (over 900 wards) to support his puppet.
Sources close to him, told us in confidence that he is preparing a huge sum that could equal a state budget for September 10th Governorship election, just to woo the masses to vote for his puppet
We must forewarn and edify our people of the impending dangers of Oshionmole's third term in office through his surrogate Godwin Obaseki. If we allow this duo antidemocrats to succeed, our nascent democracy would be permanently damaged and irreversibly destroyed. Agberoism would takeover and triumph in our State. Oshionmhole would claim more Edo State prosperities as his personal heritage just as he has done with the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Very soon Oshionmole would start to claim our folks, children and wives as his personal belongings and in servitude.
His scripts, shenanigans and antics are visibly reminiscent of the trappings of sadistic tyrants. We have many examples in history to draw influences from, including Sadam Hussain of Iraq, Joseph Stalin: “the Father of Nations” (General Secretary of the Soviet Union from 1922 till 1953), Adolf Hitler: “the Fuhrer” (Chancellor of Germany from 1933 till 1945), Augusto Pinochet: “the Reformer-Dictator” (President of Chile from 1973 till 1990), Pol Pot: “Brother Number One” (Ruler of Democratic Kampuchea, now Cambodia, from 1975 till 1979), Kim Jong Il: “the Dear Leader” (Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army from 1991 till present), and even Sani Abacha, Nigerian military leader, who served as head of state (1993–98).
With the aforementioned tyrants and despots, unfortunately most of the people they oppressed did not have a choice, but we have a choice in Edo State to reject tyranny and embrace a democrat in the person of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. We must do all within our power and means to stop Adams Oshionmole's and Godwin Obaseki’s in their tracks. They must remind you of King Pharaoh, who despite all the signs and wonders from Moses, his heart was even more hardened to free the Israelites from bondage. Whatever your political persuasion, you must remember that tyrants don’t give up power; they must be overtly defected and disgraced.
Oshionmole sacked chief Lucky James, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs; Mrs. Maigida Blessing, commissioner for women affairs; Mr. Patrick Aguinede, commissioner for basic education and Mr. Chris Ebare, commissioner for energy and water resources, Omorede Osifo State commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Mobilisation, Hon. Orobosa Omo-Ojo, former Commissioner for Transport and Hon. Donald Osikhena-Boih, former Commissioner for Lands and Survey and many more. These people and many more were sacked not for been incompetent but simply because they supported or were sympathetic to Hon. Odubu’s ambition to be APC flag bearer for 2016 elections.
If the likes of Hon. Odubu, Hon. Ugbo, Maj. Oloye, other commissioners and political advisers that disagreed with Oshionmole in the last few months can be disgraced, treated with contempt and injudiciously sacked for expressing their views in a democracy what make you think you are immune from his torrential onslaughts and tyrannical venoms?
In trying times such as we now face in Edo State, we must multiply our campaign efforts and fight for our enfranchisement like never before, mobilise our folks, friends and grassroots like never before, intensify our campaign efforts like never before, remain focus and tenacious like never before. Folks, I promise you that, if we judicious take the bull by the horns, and remain steadfast in our war against tyranny and despotism in Edo State with energised determination to succeed and win, we shall be victorious come 10th September 2016.
The way to defeat a tyrant is to work together in unison. We must strike or sting together like the bees and attack together like a pack of wolves and operate wisely like the serpent. We must use all arsenals at our disposal to launch our attacks from all angles diligently, vigorously and ferociously. This include using frank attacks, encirclement attacks, bypass attacks, guerrilla attacks and frontal attacks because our future cannot be shaped and determined by an evil tyrant like Oshionmole and his economic myopic Godwin Obaseki.
The future is now! We are key stakeholders in it
