Classical determination extols the sacrosanct throne of ancient Benin Kingdom, in the wake of modern dawn we are awed by such ancient splendor and glory characterized by our age longed Ekete. As time transverses from our primordial era of monarchical growth to the stardom of our glorified days of one time world greatest empire our traditional and cultural values is still very much intact in comparison to other close ancient African civilizations.
While others lost touch with their identities, with the passing of every single day we are re-awakening the consciousness of our cultural heritage, to us every single day of the year is inherently laden with great historical events, every street reflects the heroic tales of our ancestors, every houses are modular explanation for great personality mudded for stardom, every quarters defines administrative vigor of our forefathers, every communities represent sacrifices made for the greater good of our empire, every passing monarch remain the bridge between the relics of our past and the realization of our ordained destiny.
We were defeated in 1897 by the British in all ramifications spiritually (our altars were desecrated) psychologically (we were made to feel inferior to those who are inferior to us before the white men came) , morally (our ways were tagged barbaric), politically (our Oba was deposed) and physically (our wives raped, our children killed, our empire burnt down, our sacred altars and historical relics plundered and our heroes where hung like common criminals) but we failed ourselves even more when we stopped believing in ourselves, but now we must rise just like the rebirth of our monarch since its restoration on 22nd of July, 1914, about 103 years ago.
Let us all come out in our thousands on the 22nd of July, 2017, and tell the world that the great Benin monarch and its people lives forever and no force on earth can stop us again for the second time because we are born to rule. GREAT BENIN MOVEMENT (GBM)
