What is encroachment?
It means going beyond what naturally belongs to others
Edoland is richly blessed by nature with abundant Black Gold which is popularly known as timber in our Forest Reserve in nearly all parts of the State, mineral deposits, petroleum and highly fertile farm land for cultivation. It is indeed regrettable that communities in the neighboring States have illegally infringed on the rights of the Edos by encroaching on our God given land unchallenged, and with the affected communities watching helplessly. This bastardized act has in no small measure robbed our children of the benefits they would have derived from the natural wealth it has pleased God to bestow on us in the areas being encroached upon by the invaders. Added to this, encroachment on our land has adversely affected our ecosystem as the rationale for such encroachment is for total exploitation aimed at amassing wealth at the expense of the Edos.
It may sound astonishing to a patriotic Edo man that effort by some of our communities to resist such menace of encroachment by the indigenes of our neighboring states has resulted in the killing of some of our people and properties worth several billion Naira destroyed without
meaningful intervention by those in authority. A case in point is the killing of our brothers and sisters in Oben community of Orhionmwon local Government area few years past when the Oben community questioned the right of the Oghara people in Delta state to farm on Oben farm land
without permission to do so, our people were attacked, killed, maimed, their houses burnt and they were driven away from their home land. The people of Idale in the same Local Government Were maimed, raped, killed and their properties destroyed and burnt down by their invading neighbors. At the end, nothing happened to Ogharas and the other so called neighbors as none of them were brought to face justice. However, the Omo NOba NEdo, the Oba of Benin did intervene in his own way. Thanks to his majesty. In the same Oben community, the Oghara community in Delta State also laid claim to the portion of our land where petroleum was discovered. As at now, pipes are connected to the oil wells in Oben through which crude oil products are drained to Delta state.
The economic advantage of this is credited to Delta State.
By it known that some Odionweres, enigies and community elders, for their selfish reasons, are at the fore front in the sponsorship of the interlopers and encouraging them to infringe the rights and privileges given by God to the Edos by encroaching on our land. These unpatriotic Edo indigenes demand huge some of money from those who encroached on our land annual homage either in cash or kind are paid to the so call Odionweres, Enigies and elders. It is indeed very sad that in view of the fact that the past administrations and the present administration of Edo state were aware of this inhumanity to man to which the Edo people are subjected, they watched helplessly and allowed the interlopers to cart away the wealth on our land.
What a shame on those who ruled Edo State before now.
It is worthy of note that the past Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture and natural Resources, Edo State, Barrister Agbonwanegbe as courageous enough to hold the bull by the horns
when for the first time in the history of the Edo State, he invited the indigene of Ondo and Kogi States who have converted our forest reserve to Cocoa plantations after they had illegally exploited the logs there-in, and warned them to put a halt to their wanton exploitations and destruction of our land, or in the alternative to pay rents to the Edo state Government. The honorable Commissioner further warned the
unpatriotic Edos who encouraged the non-indigene of our State who encroached on our land to stop forth with or be made to take necessary sanction. The action of the Honorable Commissioner is commendable and a welcome phenomena and the first of its kind.
The question now being asked is that, if this ugly situation is allowed to persist, what will be the fate of our children. The land our forefathers fought for, jealously protected and handed over to us is now being giving out for the price of a pot of porridge by the socalled political leaders, Enigies, Odionweres, Community leaders, who are motivated by greed. This is sad and except they retreat their steps, posterity will not forgive them.

It’s now very obvious that nearly all Edo citizens are aware of the encroachment crisis plaguing our communities, which has resulted in a mass exodus of local indigenes for security and safety of their life and love ones. Some of those communities being encroached upon are in Orhionmwon, Ovia South West, Ovia South, Ovia North East and Oja-Akoko Edo Local Government Areas. As a result, Edo State boundary lines have been eroded and redefined. If we continue to stand by and watch these acts unfold, the consequences will only compound as we now see the agitation to carve more states from the existing continue to make inroads, and gain some traction. We are aware of various efforts made in the past to address all these issues, especially by OMO N’ OBA N’ Edo, Chief J.I Iyonmahan and a host of others fighting on behalf of our communities. We are indeed very grateful to them all. However, we the citizens of Edo State have been marginalized in our own land. These acts of aggression and encroachment pose a grave threat to our communities and resources as we witness Edo State boundary lines eroding for the following reasons: - We have ceded the Bight of Benin and other Edo lands/landmarks to other States - Lost several and risk more Historical monuments to others - The risk of losing some important Traditional Ruler-ship Stools - Edo State natural and economic resources are being drained under our watch - The call for development of Historical Gele-Gele Seaport becomes meaningless when we become a land locked State - The target area suggested for State creation will cripple Edo State economically - Non action can lead to communal clash and blood bath that can been avoided Therefore, we the people demand from our leaders a call to renew their vigor and stand up for justice to protect our communities, resources and Edo State boundary lines.
We are pleading with the following Administrators, Local Authorities and Rulers of our State to help drive our message home: -
His Royal Majesty OMO N’ OBA EREDIAUWA -
Edo State Governor -
Edo State House of Assembly -
Office of NEPAD- Edo State -
Local Government Chairmen/Chairpersons -
Commissioner for Local Government Affairs In conclusion, we are appealing to leaders and Rulers of our State to: -
Start a movement to reclaim our ceded lands and people -
Assist in stopping the aggression and invasion of our communities -
Provide the needed assistance to the Enigies who are facing communal crisis as a result of encroachment -
Provide support and assist the Okao of Gele-Gele in enforcing the Supreme Court judgment as it stands - Assist in defining the boundary lines as it relates to communities We the undersigned are willing to accept any call to service as maybe demanded of us to resolve the encroachment problem confronting our people.

Nigerian need a human revolution so let see how we can make a peaceful revolution successful...Human revolution means turning our lives in a positive direction, from unhappiness to happiness. It is the transformation of the tendency to allow ourselves to be swept along by force of habit or to feel ourselves at the mercy of the whims of destiny,we are not destine to poverty in this nation,The incredible power to do this already exists inside us; Our future self does not exist in some far-off place in Europe and america or even in Abuja;it exists in the heart and mind of our present self. That is why we must face and tackle the realities that confront us;It is not about how others are or how society is. The most important thing is to ask yourself, “What should I do?” and “What can I do?” One who stands up with moral courage and conviction can change society and create waves of transformation around the world; Nigerians standup with courage use your voters card to change this suffering of our people it's now or never 2015 it's the judgement day of Nigerian human revolution let our people decide, government of impunity, corruption as usual situation, terrorist promotion, deceive of the common citizens with different lies, clueless military force...it's a shame to this God bless nation...

“In the past, some eight hundred years ago, we warmly received the Arabs, Portugal, Britain, and China. Africa got RAPED, Enslaved, Colonized and ravaged by military touts and thugs. Today in Nigeria, my wives, children, brothers, uncles, elders and aunties are roasted daily and this is spot to a wicked world. We may need to fight more fiercely to free ourselves from these crimes in Nigeria against the Conscience of humanity. We reject the violence in Nigeria and all her agents. The Edo United Nation that was over ran by British Bandits a century ago that has resurrected now would seek for redress on the crimes against the African indigenous People” - Edherue Anthony

Which way Edo people!!! say no to nigeria! yes to the restoration and recovery of Edoland and resource, yes to edo united nation. . pdp, acn etc not for us but against us for their own interest!!!
"With the caliphate, with the Itsekiris who are with the caliphate against the Ijaws; is this how we hope to form political alliances? Followers of one group or the other, neither of which has anything more for us than the whip bros! But trust me, for the sake of our children and grandchildren, we will never allow Hausa/Fulanu and their junior partner Yoruba continue to dominate us, never again. We do not want to dominate group, we do not want any group or tribe to continue to dominate us using press, gun, bomb, religion, ethnicity, or even political party. "The Unification of all Edoid people and nation in Ondo, Edo, Delta, Kogi and other part of Nigeria is very crucial to survive and be free from Lugard cage called Nigeria. The midwestern state later Bendel was great and peaceful together before IBB and Obj set their mischief, division and encroachment of Edoland. Enough injustice and marginalization of Edo people and country. Politicians, Religious leaders and ethnic opportunist have taken chance to steal, rape and destroy at every end across the land. Corruption at every point of contact. Many so gullible that they can buy into every little deception by politicians and religious leaders.
Nigeria is a place where politicians can loot and divert hundreds of millions, even billions of hard currency and get away with it. A company founded in fraud rule by fraudstars. Politics in Nigeria, the most lucrative job, followed by being a private jet-flying pastor. It has never been about public service for both professions but about personal service and wealth accumulation, greed and high egos. Our ancestors were united and they build empires, but today we divided and can't build a state.
It's time to call it a new dawn, call for restoration of Benin Kingdom sovereign and Edo United Nation from the then Midwest and Bendel State. Edo United Nation must be upheld, encourage and implimented by all to make a new paradise on earth, explore the natural and human resource to the betterment of all Edo United Nation citizenry. A place all Africans and foreigners be proud to live and invest. " - Uwagboe Ogieva

Benin-Delta was a Sovereign Nation before the occupation of the country by the British,Oba Akenzua also said,The divide and rule policy of the British Government had done much harm to the national solidarity of Benin-Delta Province in the past but as God now wants things to be what they were before the advent of the British Government, that is, the Yoruba State for the Yorubas and Benin-Delta State for the BENDELITES, that is, the inhabitants of the Benin-Delta Province, steps should now be taken without further delay

Press release- Oben oil and gas rich community of Edo State as a Delta State community in its Wednesday's article- Benin National Congress calls for correction, 22nd June 2011.
The attention of the Benin National Congress (Edo Socio-Cultural Organization) has been drawn to an oil and Gas article centered on the Oben gas-to-power project, and published at the front page of Guardian Newspaper of Wednesday 22nd June 2011.
We sincerely believed that the aim of the publication was to draw federal government; and other stakeholders to the 'abandoned' gas-to-power project, with a view to revitalizing same and bringing the dream to limelight. However, at the first paragraph, the Benin National Congress and concerned stakeholders observed that 'OBEN' was referred or portrayed as a community in Delta State; whereas, the said community is part and parcel of Orhiomwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
We would had not bothered to raise any issue about the commission or omission, but, considering the wisdom in Karl Marx's indelible assertion "to leave an error uncorrected, is to encourage intellectual immorality" we considered it appropriate to raise a formal observation to the Board of editors or the essayist or editorof Guardian Newspapers because, in the light of clandestine activities by our hitherto neighbors to appropriate Benin lands, Oil and Gas resources and plantations to themselves, this 'mistake' could be a golden opportunity for anti Benin elements to demand for our natural resources and lands.
In fact, to undermine our people, flow-stations are deliberately built outside or far from the source of oil wells in Benin lands, so that offshore benefits can accrue to our neighboring states; as we speak, there are plans by some powerful political elites of Delta State origin to appropriate the oil and gas potentials of Evbohighae-Ugbeka clan, in Oriomwon Local Government Area.
Pre-colonially, there are documented evidence attributing to very large size of the ancient Benin territories; even after the colonial conquest, but, oppressive and anti-Benin opportunists who found themselves at the corridors of power, especially at the Presidency, and acting in connivance with some fifth columnists within Benin kingdom have done everything possible to appropriate the oil-rich Bight of Benin to their native communities; including other forms of political vindictiveness.
As a non-political organization, we wish to make clear that these anti-ethnic tendencies will definitely prop-up militant uprisings by the Binis because, we have been pushed to walls for too long, and our hospitality has for long been taken for granted. Igt is sad the the Lucky Igbinedion Administration and the State House of Assembly have continued to gloss over the appropriation of Edo Oil Wells and territorial lands, apparently because they are not direct descendants from the affected communities. The time to fight is very near, unless stakeholders and Lawmakers urgently reviews the trends.
We watch closely.
